Government to Spend Rs 2,014.65 Crore on Improving and Expanding Drinking Water Facilities in Aurangabad, Sasaram and Dehri: CM Samrat Choudhary

Patna, October 026: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government for approving a project worth Rs 1,774.98 crore through NABARD to improve and expand drinking water facilities in three regions of Bihar.

The Chief Minister said the state government would spend Rs 2,014.65 crore on improving and expanding drinking water facilities and strengthening the water supply system in Aurangabad, Sasaram and Dehri.

He said Bihar's development was progressing steadily under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. With the support of the Central Government, infrastructure was being expanded across the state, strengthening the government's resolve to provide better facilities to citizens.

Choudhary said the project, approved under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF), would pave the way for improving and expanding drinking water facilities in Aurangabad, Sasaram and Dehri.

He added that the project would make appropriate use of surface water from the Son River, reducing dependence on groundwater and helping meet future drinking water requirements. It would also play an important role in strengthening the drinking water supply system in line with the objectives of the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali campaign.

The project is expected to provide drinking water facilities to around eight lakh people at present. The target is to extend these facilities to approximately 12 lakh people by 2051.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government was committed to ensuring access to clean and adequate drinking water, promoting water conservation and reducing dependence on groundwater.
