Swiss President Guy Parmelin Visits Noida International Airport, Highlights Investment and Connectivity Opportunities

Noida/Lucknow, October 2026 : Uttar Pradesh’s global connectivity and investment strategy received a fresh international dimension on Monday as Swiss President Guy Bernard Parmelin visited the Noida International Airport in Jewar along with a delegation of around 65 members.

The visit is being seen as an important step towards strengthening economic, technological and aviation cooperation between Uttar Pradesh and Switzerland, particularly in the areas of aviation, IT and electronics.

At Noida International Airport, Uttar Pradesh IT and Electronics Cabinet Minister Sunil Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary of the Civil Aviation Department and IIDC Deepak Kumar, and Invest UP Chief Executive Officer Vijay Kiran Anand welcomed President Parmelin and his delegation by presenting them with traditional angavastrams.

Expanding Global Partnerships Through Investment Policy

The Yogi Adityanath government has made improved connectivity, modern infrastructure and an investment-friendly environment key pillars of its development strategy. The Noida International Airport is an important part of this broader vision.

The airport, being developed at Jewar, is expected to connect western Uttar Pradesh with global air networks while giving a boost to industrial, business and investment activities in the region.

President Parmelin’s visit assumes added significance as the airport has been developed by a subsidiary of Swiss company Zurich Airport International AG. The project reflects an important example of Swiss technical expertise and investment in Uttar Pradesh and could open new avenues for cooperation between the two sides.

Delegation Reviews Modern Airport Facilities

The visit began at the NIA office, where the Swiss delegation was given a presentation on the airport in the Avni boardroom. President Parmelin also addressed members of the delegation during the programme.

A lunch was subsequently organised in the airport courtyard, accompanied by Indian musical performances, followed by a group photograph.

The delegation was then divided into two groups. President Parmelin, his wife and selected officials undertook a special inspection of the airside facilities and the Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower.

Other members of the delegation conducted a detailed tour of various airport facilities, including the terminal, security areas, boarding gates, apron and baggage reclaim area.

The delegation departed from the airport at around 2 p.m.

Scope for Cooperation Beyond Aviation

The Swiss delegation comprised around 65 members, including the President’s wife, the Swiss Ambassador, members of the National Council, state secretaries and around 40 business leaders.

The presence of such a large business delegation made the visit significant not only from the perspective of airport development but also in terms of potential economic and industrial cooperation.

Uttar Pradesh has been seeking to create a favourable environment for global companies through its investment promotion policies and sustained efforts in the IT and electronics sectors. The state government believes that such initiatives can help attract international investment and strengthen its position as a destination for technology-driven industries.

Against this backdrop, President Parmelin’s visit to Jewar could provide further momentum to potential cooperation and investment in aviation, IT, electronics, technology and allied sectors.

The visit also underlined the growing relevance of Noida International Airport as an infrastructure project connecting Uttar Pradesh with international markets while creating opportunities for deeper economic and technological engagement between the state and Switzerland.
