Ayodhya, October 2026 : The eighth edition of the film stars’ Ramlila, launched on the initiative of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to promote Indian culture and the teachings of the Ramayana among the younger generation, began on Saturday at Mavlankar Hall on Rafi Marg in Delhi.

The event brings together traditional storytelling and modern technology. For the first time, child artists are staging the entire Ramayana, with performers aged between three and 17 bringing key episodes from the epic to life. A massive 120-foot LED screen and elaborate stage arrangements have added to the visual appeal of the performance.

Child Artists Stage the Entire Ramayana for the First Time

For the first time in this edition, children have been given the opportunity to enact the complete Ramayana, covering the story from the birth of Lord Ram to his coronation.

The young performers presented key episodes through dialogues and acting, drawing enthusiastic applause from the audience.

The performance includes Lord Ram’s birth, the arrival of Sage Vishwamitra, the slaying of Tadaka, the redemption of Ahalya, the arrival in Janakpur, Sita’s swayamvar and marriage, Ram’s exile, the reunion with Bharat, the Chitrakoot episode, the Shurpanakha episode, Sita’s abduction, the Kishkindha Kand, the meeting with Hanuman, the burning of Lanka, the construction of the Ram Setu, the slaying of Ravana, Ram’s return to Ayodhya and his coronation.

Ramlila founder-president Subhash Malik, general secretary Shubham Malik and senior vice-president Jatin Malik jointly said that children had been given an opportunity to perform for the first time as part of the initiative.

Students from Heera Public School, HSV Global, Parth International, HSV International and Misri Devi Gyan Niketan School showcased their talent.

The initiative aims to connect the younger generation with the teachings of the Ramayana, Indian cultural traditions and moral values.

Taking Ayodhya’s Cultural Heritage to a Global Audience

The Ramlila, launched on the initiative of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, seeks to bring the ideals of Lord Ram and India's cultural traditions to a wider audience.

The participation of popular actors and the use of modern broadcasting platforms are expected to connect viewers across India and abroad.

Following the success of the previous seven editions, organisers have planned a larger presentation for the eighth edition. Advanced technical facilities and elaborate stage arrangements are being used to present key episodes of the Ramayana in an engaging manner.

Alongside entertainment, the event aims to promote the values associated with Lord Ram’s life, including dignity, sacrifice, truth and duty.

63 Film Personalities to Feature in Delhi Ramlila from October 10 to 20

Described by its organisers as the world’s largest Ramlila, the Ayodhya Ramlila is being held in Delhi from October 10 to 20, 2026.

A total of 63 film and entertainment personalities will appear in different roles. They include Manoj Tiwari, Ravi Kishan, Raza Murad, Bindu Dara Singh, Malini Awasthi and Miss Universe India 2026, Kazia Liz Mejo.

The fair will remain open from noon to 11 pm, while the Ramlila performances will take place from 7 pm to 10 pm.

Ravi Kishan to Play Lord Ram on October 19

Several well-known personalities from the film and entertainment industry will portray prominent characters in the epic.

According to the organisers, Gorakhpur MP and actor Ravi Kishan will play Lord Ram on October 19, while actor Arun Bakshi will portray Ravana.

Their participation is expected to be among the key attractions of the event. Through dialogue, acting and stage effects, the organisers aim to present episodes from the Ramayana in a format that appeals to audiences across age groups and helps them connect with Indian traditions.

Telecast in 40 Languages to Reach 60 Countries

According to the organisers, the Ramlila will be broadcast in 40 languages through more than 80 satellite channels. The initiative aims to take the message of Lord Ram’s ideals and devotion to him to audiences in 60 countries.

The multilingual broadcast will enable Indians living abroad, as well as viewers from other countries, to watch the performance in their preferred languages.

The initiative is also intended to introduce international audiences to India’s spiritual heritage and the timeless teachings of the Ramayana.

A Blend of Tradition and Modern Technology

The eighth edition combines traditional storytelling with modern technology to deliver an engaging presentation of the Ramayana.

The 120-foot LED screen, elaborate stage design and performances by the artists are being used to bring important episodes of the epic to life.

The participation of child artists, appearances by popular film personalities and multilingual broadcasting are among the defining features of this edition.

Through the event, the organisers aim to familiarise the younger generation with the cultural legacy of the Ramayana and take the ideals of Lord Ram to audiences across India and the world.
