Over 61.87 lakh SIR hearings conducted; claims and objections to remain open until October 7, final rolls due on November 9
Hyderabad, Sept 2026 : More than 48.88 lakh electors in Telangana have been found eligible for inclusion in the final electoral rolls following hearings conducted under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharsan Reddy said that as of September 29, a total of 48,88,076 electors had been cleared for inclusion in the final rolls after their cases were examined by election authorities.
The SIR process generated 92,88,180 notices to voters whose records showed logical discrepancies or could not be mapped with the 2002 electoral rolls. Of these, 88,52,173 notices have been delivered, while 4,36,007 are still pending for delivery, according to the latest data.
The authorities have so far conducted 61,87,444 hearings before Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs). While 48,88,076 electors have been found eligible, another 12,99,368 cases are under verification by District Electoral Officers (DEOs).
Officials have asked electors who received notices to respond within the stipulated period, submit the required documents and appear before the concerned ERO or AERO for inquiry. Those who fail to complete the process will not be considered for inclusion in the final electoral roll.
Under the revised SIR schedule, the deadline for filing claims and objections is October 7, 2026. The notice and disposal process will continue until November 5, while the final electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on November 9.
The draft electoral roll was published on August 17 following a door-to-door enumeration exercise. Out of 3,38,26,448 electors, as many as 73,39,235 were categorised as ASDD — Absent, Shifted, Dead and Duplicate.
The ASDD category included around 57.46 lakh voters who were found absent or had permanently shifted, while 9.22 lakh were identified as deceased and 6.70 lakh were found enrolled at multiple locations.
In addition, around 60 lakh electors were issued notices over discrepancies involving their names, family members' names, age and other details. Another 32 lakh electors were categorised as unmapped, meaning their records could not be linked with the 2002 electoral rolls.
With the claims and objections deadline approaching, election authorities are continuing hearings and verification to complete the revision process ahead of the scheduled publication of the final electoral rolls.
