Dialogue and exchange of experiences between youth of Uttarakhand and other states to be promoted
Efforts underway to connect youth with culture, tourism and development initiatives in the spirit of the Seva Sankalp campaign
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday extended his best wishes to a group of youth from the state who are visiting Haryana and said that such inter-state visits provide young people with an opportunity to closely understand the culture, lifestyle, development works and innovative initiatives of different states across the country.
The Chief Minister said Uttarakhand’s youth should visit different states, learn about their culture, local characteristics, development initiatives and best practices adopted by their governments, and share useful experiences in the context of Uttarakhand. Similarly, opportunities are also being provided to youth from other states to visit Uttarakhand and learn about its culture, tourism, local products, and various development and welfare initiatives being implemented in the state.
Dhami said the spirit of the Seva Sankalp campaign, which began on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, is also aimed at connecting various sections of society, particularly the youth, with the ideals of service, public participation and the resolve to build a developed India. Such interaction among young people can serve as an effective means of understanding successful initiatives in different states and exchanging experiences.
Addressing the youth travelling to Haryana, the Chief Minister urged them to closely observe the state’s rich culture, glorious history, cuisine, sporting traditions, agriculture and local lifestyle. He encouraged them to interact with local youth, sportspersons, farmers and people who are doing notable work in various fields and learn from their experiences.
The Chief Minister said that when the youth of Uttarakhand visit other states, they represent their home state. Therefore, they should also inform people about Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage, folk festivals, local cuisine, tourist destinations, homestays, local products, millets and handicrafts.
He said that apart from the Char Dham pilgrimage sites, Uttarakhand has several destinations such as Adi Kailash, Jageshwar and Kainchi Dham, along with opportunities for winter tourism and adventure tourism. Information about these destinations should reach an increasing number of people across the country, he added.
Dhami said that young people can also play an important role in taking information about products made by women’s self-help groups and local artisans to other states.
He emphasised that such programmes should not remain limited to tourism or visits alone, but should become a platform for the exchange of culture, experiences and ideas among youth from different states.
Such initiatives, he said, will enable young people to understand India’s diversity while also giving them an opportunity to learn from good work and successful practices being undertaken in different parts of the country.
