E-Detection, Online Services and Automated Testing Stations Boost Revenue and Road Safety; 35 Driving Test Tracks to be Automated
Jaipur, September 2026: Chief Secretary V. Srinivas on Tuesday reviewed the progress of the Transport and Road Safety Department and the Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC), directing officials to complete ongoing projects within stipulated timelines to expand safe, convenient and modern transport services across the state.
The review meeting was held at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary. Srinivas directed officials to resolve inter-departmental issues, particularly those related to land allocation and budget replenishment, on priority. He also called for 100 per cent compliance with the Chief Minister’s budget announcements and directives.
RSRTC Chairman and Principal Secretary, Transport, Bhawani Singh Detha, briefed the meeting on departmental achievements, progress on budget announcements, revenue generation and various innovations being undertaken by the department.
Revenue Rises 13.82 Per Cent
The Transport Department has generated revenue of Rs 3,594.73 crore during the current financial year 2026-27 up to September 27, 2026. This is Rs 436.45 crore higher than the revenue generated during the corresponding period last year, representing a growth of 13.82 per cent.
57 Services Made Available Online
To save citizens from repeated visits to RTO and DTO offices, the department has made 57 services fully online through the Vahan and Sarathi portals.
An automated process for hypothecation termination has also been introduced. In addition, the Mining Department’s e-Ravanna portal has been integrated with the ITMS, enabling automatic challans against overloaded vehicles.
Nearly 18 Lakh Challans Issued Through E-Detection
To strengthen road safety and promote transparency, the e-Detection system has been implemented at toll plazas across Rajasthan.
Through the system, around 18 lakh challans have so far been issued against vehicles operating without valid documents such as tax, fitness certificates, insurance and Pollution Under Control Certificates (PUCC). The total value of these challans is around Rs 1,188 crore.
Rajasthan Second in Country in Automated Testing Stations
The state currently has 55 Automated Testing Stations (ATS). Rajasthan ranks second in the country after Gujarat in terms of the number of ATS facilities.
The automated system is aimed at improving transparency and technical efficiency in vehicle fitness testing.
Vehicle Scrapping Policy Promotes Phased Removal of Old Vehicles
The Rajasthan Vehicle Scrapping Policy-2025 has been notified with the objective of gradually removing old vehicles from the roads and promoting less-polluting vehicles.
Under the policy, buyers purchasing a new vehicle against a valid scrapping certificate can avail themselves of a tax concession ranging from 16 to 26 per cent, subject to a maximum benefit of Rs 1 lakh.
Nearly 900 New Buses to Join Roadways Fleet
The process of adding around 900 new buses, including AC, Blue Line and electric buses, to the Rajasthan Roadways fleet is in its final stage.
Meanwhile, construction and renovation of modern bus stands with improved facilities are underway at various district headquarters and towns, including Ajmer, Bharatpur, Dudu, Kota, Udaipur and Alwar.
All 35 Driving Test Tracks to be Automated
To strengthen road safety, all 35 driving test tracks across the state are being automated. Automated driving test tracks have already become operational at 23 locations.
The automated system is expected to enhance transparency in the driving test process and strengthen technological monitoring.
Faster Disposal of Complaints Through Rajasthan Sampark Portal
The department has also recorded significant improvement in the disposal of complaints received through the Rajasthan Sampark portal.
The average time taken to resolve complaints has declined from 23 days to 13 days. Meanwhile, the department’s Grievance Redressal Performance (GRPF) ranking improved from 18th in May 2026 to sixth in August 2026.
Transport Commissioner Purushottam Sharma and senior officials from the Transport and Road Safety Department and Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation attended the meeting.
