Alliance aims to strengthen local presence
The seat-sharing agreement gives TDP the largest share of urban local bodies, while allowing Jana Sena and BJP to contest in selected areas. The arrangement is expected to provide a framework for coordination among the partners during candidate selection and campaigning.
The coalition will now need to translate the allocation into coordinated local campaigns, with candidates expected to focus on civic services, infrastructure, sanitation, drinking water and other municipal issues.
Overall allocation
| Party | Municipal corporations | Municipalities and nagar panchayats | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| TDP | 11 | 78 | 89 |
| Jana Sena Party | 4 | 21 | 25 |
| BJP | 2 | 7 | 9 |
| Total | 17 | 106 | 123 |
The arrangement covers all 123 urban local bodies cited in the report. The alliance’s electoral prospects will ultimately depend on candidate selection, local campaigning and voter response across the state.
