Bengaluru, October 2026 : Bengaluru-based Gopalan Aerospace India Private Limited (GAIPL) has commissioned a new production line at its Hoskote manufacturing complex following an investment of approximately ₹336 crore, strengthening its capabilities in aerospace, defence and space manufacturing.
The facility was inaugurated in the presence of Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček and Gopalan Enterprises Director C. Prabhakar. The development marks a major step in the company's expansion strategy, which focuses on advanced manufacturing, technology partnerships and opportunities in domestic and international aerospace supply chains.
During the event, GAIPL also signed five Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Czech partners covering potential collaboration in fire-extinguishing technologies, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), thermoreflective coating solutions, unmanned traffic management systems and jet-powered UAV platforms.
The agreements establish a framework for exploring technology partnerships, industrial cooperation and manufacturing opportunities. Specific projects, investment commitments and commercial outcomes will depend on further discussions between the participating organisations.
Hoskote complex strengthens manufacturing capacity
Spread across 10.5 acres, the Hoskote campus has more than 150,000 square feet of manufacturing infrastructure. It supports precision computer numerical control (CNC) machining, sheet metal fabrication, advanced composites manufacturing, aerostructure production and the assembly of complex aerospace systems.
GAIPL provides both Build-to-Print and Build-to-Spec manufacturing services. These enable the company to manufacture components according to customer-provided designs or work to technical specifications, supporting a range of customers, from component suppliers to major aerospace and defence contractors.
The newly commissioned production line is expected to enhance the company's ability to handle more complex manufacturing programmes and technologically demanding projects.
GAIPL holds AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 certifications, along with Nadcap accreditations for composites and welding. These credentials support its participation in quality-sensitive aerospace manufacturing and international supply chains.
Partnerships across aerospace and defence
The company's customer and partner network includes Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Israel Aerospace Industries, Larsen & Toubro, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Tata Advanced Systems, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL).
Industry reports also identify collaborations involving organisations such as Expleo and ECIL, as well as work connected with the Indian Army and Indian Air Force.
The Czech agreements could provide opportunities to expand technical cooperation in emerging areas, particularly unmanned aviation and related systems. However, the MoUs represent proposed areas of collaboration rather than confirmation of completed projects or secured contracts.
GAIPL has also been exploring overseas partnerships involving drone technologies, technology transfer, joint development and collaborative manufacturing.
Revenue growth and export ambitions
GAIPL's aerospace business currently generates approximately ₹168 crore in annual revenue. The company is targeting annual growth of around 50 per cent over the next three to five years as it seeks larger contracts, expands production capacity and increases export-oriented manufacturing.
At planned utilisation levels, the Hoskote facility is projected to generate annual revenue of approximately ₹420 crore. Achieving this target will depend on capacity utilisation, customer demand, contract acquisition and the execution of new programmes.
The company's strategy includes pursuing higher-value aerospace and defence projects, strengthening relationships with global original equipment manufacturers and widening its presence in international markets.
Focus on indigenous unmanned systems
Beyond contract manufacturing, GAIPL has been developing indigenous loitering-munition unmanned aerial vehicle systems for the past three years. The initiative reflects its ambition to build capabilities in advanced defence technology alongside its established manufacturing operations.
The combination of expanded production infrastructure, international partnerships and indigenous development could help the company pursue a broader range of aerospace and defence programmes.
With the Hoskote production line now commissioned, GAIPL is seeking to strengthen its position in India's aerospace manufacturing ecosystem while exploring opportunities for technology collaboration and export growth. The scale of its future expansion will depend on converting planned partnerships into executable projects and sustained commercial demand.
