Raipur, October 2026: In a major initiative to improve electricity supply in remote rural and tribal areas, the Chhattisgarh government is constructing a 33/11 kV electricity substation at Samdama village in Farsabahar tehsil of Jashpur district at a cost of ₹2.91 crore.
The project has been undertaken on the initiative of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai to strengthen power infrastructure and provide reliable electricity services to residents of underserved areas. Once operational, the substation is expected to improve electricity supply to 16 villages in the Naglok region and provide relief from the longstanding problem of low voltage.
Residents of the region have faced persistent difficulties due to inadequate voltage and irregularities in power supply. These problems have affected the use of household electrical appliances, agricultural operations and other daily activities. The new substation is expected to strengthen the local electricity distribution network and improve the quality and reliability of supply.
Sixteen Villages to Benefit
The proposed 33/11 kV substation will benefit electricity consumers in Samdama, Sanko, Sahilta, Bansajhal, Charla, Manjhapara, Korchikani, Lavakera, Junadih, Jagdampur, Rengarmunda, Jadamal, Beldipa, Chaldih, Jamdand and Rangiyadipa, along with surrounding areas.
The facility is expected to ensure a more robust distribution system and help provide consumers with adequate voltage. Improved electricity infrastructure will be particularly beneficial for residents of remote villages, where power quality has remained a concern.
The project is part of the state government's efforts to strengthen basic services in rural and tribal areas and address infrastructure gaps affecting everyday life.
Boost to Agriculture, Education and Rural Livelihoods
The benefits of the Samdama substation are expected to extend beyond household electricity supply, supporting agriculture, education, small businesses and rural livelihoods.
Farmers are likely to benefit from more reliable electricity for operating irrigation pumps and other agricultural equipment. Better power supply could also make it easier for small businesses and self-employment ventures to operate in rural areas, supporting local economic activity.
Improved electricity availability will also facilitate the use of household appliances and provide students with better conditions for studying at home. Strengthening the power distribution network is expected to contribute to the overall development of the region by improving access to essential infrastructure.
Focus on Remote and Tribal Areas
Under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai's directions, the state government has been focusing on expanding basic infrastructure and improving public services in remote rural and tribal communities.
The ₹2.91-crore substation at Samdama is an important step towards meeting the growing electricity demand in the Naglok region. Once completed and commissioned, it is expected to improve supply quality and strengthen the local distribution system.
Residents have welcomed the construction of the facility, expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister for addressing a longstanding concern. They have voiced hope that the substation's commissioning will significantly reduce low-voltage problems and bring lasting improvements to electricity services across the 16 beneficiary villages.
