General Dhiraj Seth assesses operational readiness and security measures along the Line of Control and in Kashmir’s hinterland
Srinagar, Sept 2026 : Chief of Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth on Friday reviewed the operational preparedness of formations deployed along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir during his visit to forward areas of the Chinar Corps under the Northern Command.
The Indian Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information said General Seth visited the forward areas on September 25 and assessed the operational preparedness of troops along the LoC. Commanders briefed him on the prevailing security environment, operational readiness and measures being implemented to maintain a robust security posture.
The Army Chief was also apprised of ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening operational capabilities and preparations for counter-terrorism operations in the hinterland. The visit provided General Seth an opportunity to assess the readiness of formations across the operational spectrum.
During his interaction with troops deployed in operational areas, General Seth commended personnel for maintaining a high level of vigilance, professionalism and commitment. He also emphasised his “VIJAY” framework, which outlines his priorities for building a future-ready Indian Army.
General Seth had introduced the five-point “VIJAY” framework after taking charge as the 31st Chief of Army Staff in July. The framework comprises Vigilance and Readiness, Innovation and Transformation, Jointness and Integration, Atmanirbharta and Capability Development, and Yodha First.
The Army has said the framework is aimed at accelerating modernisation, strengthening indigenous capabilities and preparing the force to operate effectively across multiple domains. General Seth has also stressed the need for the Army to adapt to an evolving security environment through technology integration and enhanced operational preparedness.
According to an official account of the visit, the Army Chief also reviewed coordination among the security forces and other agencies involved in maintaining peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
The visit comes as formations along the LoC continue to maintain heightened vigilance and operational readiness. The Chinar Corps is responsible for military operations in the Kashmir Valley and areas along the LoC.
General Seth’s visit formed part of his continuing assessment of operational preparedness across different Army formations since assuming office. Earlier visits by the Army Chief have included reviews of operational readiness and security situations in other commands, alongside assessments of technology absorption, capability enhancement and modernisation initiatives.
