India signed off from the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026 with 85 medals, including 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze, finishing fourth overall after an impressive campaign across athletics, shooting, archery, boxing, wrestling, hockey, cricket and several other disciplines.
Nagoya, Oct 2026 : The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026 will officially conclude on Sunday, bringing more than two weeks of intense continental competition to an end with the closing ceremony at the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium in Japan.
The closing ceremony, scheduled to begin at 6 pm IST, will be held at the same venue that hosted the opening ceremony. It will feature traditional proceedings, including the parade of athletes, cultural performances and the formal handing down of the curtain on the Games.
For India, the closing ceremony will mark the end of one of its strongest Asian Games campaigns, with the country finishing fourth in the overall medal standings with 85 medals — 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze.
Shooting star Neeru Dhanda has been selected as India's women's flag-bearer for the closing ceremony. Dhanda, who produced one of India's standout performances in Nagoya, will lead the Indian contingent with the Tricolour as the Games formally come to a close.
India's medal haul reflected the country's growing strength across both traditional and emerging disciplines. Athletics emerged as one of the major contributors, while shooting and archery once again produced a significant number of medals. Wrestling, boxing, hockey, cricket, squash, golf, sailing and other sports also added to India's overall tally.
Athletics delivers a strong campaign
India's track-and-field contingent produced a broad range of performances, with medals coming from distance running, jumps, throws and relay events.
Gulveer Singh was among the most prominent performers, winning silver in the men's 10,000m and 1,500m before adding bronze in the 5,000m. Sawan Berwal secured silver in the men's marathon, while Sarvesh Kushare won silver in the men's high jump.

Both men's and women's kabaddi teams also won gold medals.
India's women's hockey team clinched gold, while the men's hockey side also emerged victorious, reinforcing the country's position as one of Asia's leading hockey nations.
The badminton men's team won bronze, while India also collected medals in squash, including silver for Abhay Singh and Anahat Singh in singles and bronze in the men's and women's team events.
Historic performances in golf and other sports
Pranavi Urs created history by winning gold in the women's individual golf event, becoming the first Indian woman to win the Asian Games individual golf title. She also helped India secure silver in the women's team event alongside Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar.
India also won medals in sailing, rowing, soft tennis, table tennis, wushu, kurash, sepaktakraw and mixed martial arts, underlining the breadth of the country's campaign.
The Games therefore ended with India fourth in the medal standings and a total of 85 medals, including 21 gold. The performances across disciplines highlighted both established strengths and the emergence of new medal contenders.
As the Indian contingent prepares for the closing ceremony, Dhanda's selection as flag-bearer provides a fitting conclusion to a campaign in which shooting, athletics, archery, wrestling, boxing and team sports all played a significant role.
