Chief Minister releases October 2026 pension payments through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Over 9.99 lakh beneficiaries receive financial assistance.
Timely delivery of welfare benefits to the most vulnerable sections of society remains a government priority, says Dhami.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday transferred ₹148.18 crore to the bank accounts of 9,99,484 beneficiaries under various pension schemes of the Social Welfare Department. The payment, covering pensions for October 2026, was made through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system at an event held at the Chief Minister's Camp Office.
The Chief Minister said the state government was continuously working towards the social and economic empowerment of vulnerable, deprived and needy sections of society. Financial assistance was being provided to eligible beneficiaries through various social security schemes, including old-age pension, widow pension and disability pension.
He said the government's objective was to ensure that every eligible person received the benefits of these schemes transparently and on time.
Dhami said that under the able guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, both the Central and state governments were committed to ensuring that welfare schemes reached the last person in society. The DBT system had enhanced transparency by transferring funds directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts and reduced the possibility of unnecessary delays in the implementation of welfare programmes.
The Chief Minister said the state government was according special priority to the dignity of senior citizens, financial security for widowed women and the empowerment of persons with disabilities. Pension schemes not only provide financial support to needy families but also help beneficiaries lead a life of dignity.
He emphasised that the government's objective was not limited to providing financial assistance but also included ensuring social security and respect for every section of society.
Dhami said some beneficiaries, particularly elderly persons and persons with disabilities, had earlier faced difficulties in preparing pension-related documents and completing other formalities. To address this issue, the state government, in coordination with the Central Government, had facilitated pension benefits for nearly 7,000 beneficiaries under special provisions, even in the absence of Aadhaar.
The Chief Minister said the state government was making continuous efforts to ensure that social security pensions reached beneficiaries' bank accounts on time every month. Special efforts had also been made to ensure that pension payments were credited before Diwali.
He directed officials to maintain transparency in the implementation of pension schemes and ensure that eligible beneficiaries did not face any inconvenience.
Dhami said the real purpose of government welfare schemes was fulfilled only when their benefits reached those in need at the right time. He also extended greetings to all beneficiaries on the upcoming occasions of Diwali, Dhanteras, Bhai Dooj and Govardhan Puja, wishing them good health, happiness, peace and well-being.
