Statement by Maharashtra Public Service Commission Chairman Vivek Bhimanwar
Mumbai, September 2026: Several qualitative and structural reforms have been introduced in the functioning of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) to enhance transparency, efficiency and speed in its operations. Special emphasis is being placed on streamlining the Commission’s examination and recruitment processes so that candidates receive services in a timely and efficient manner, MPSC Chairman Vivek Bhimanwar said.
Bhimanwar said that since assuming charge as Chairman of the Commission, a total of 84 screening examinations have been successfully conducted, including eight for competitive examinations and 76 for direct-service recruitment. Various procedural improvements have been introduced at different levels to streamline the process from the time the government submits a recruitment request until the final results are declared.
As a result, it has become possible to declare examination results within 18 to 21 days, he said. The reforms are aimed at reducing prolonged delays in result declaration, with a plan to ensure that results are announced within one month.
Probe into Drug Inspector Exam Paper Leak
MPSC Chairman Vivek Bhimanwar said that allegations have repeatedly been levelled against him in connection with the question paper leak involving the Commission’s Drug Inspector examination.
He clarified that the incident occurred before he assumed office and that a complaint was lodged with the police as soon as the Commission received information about the matter. The investigation is currently underway.
To prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future, the MPSC has constituted a high-level committee. The Commission has also initiated consultations with students, parents and teachers at the divisional level to gather their views and suggestions, he said.
Transparency and Fairness Remain the Priority
Bhimanwar said that preserving the reputation and credibility of the MPSC and ensuring that students preparing for competitive examinations receive due rewards for their hard work remain his primary objectives.
He said continuous efforts are being made to establish a transparent and impartial system and that these efforts will continue in the future.
Bhimanwar also made a strong assertion regarding the allegations against him, saying that if anyone provides even a single piece of evidence against him, he would not remain in the post for even a moment.
